                                                                 "My story"

The statement “I don’t look like what I have been through” is our topic for this month. I think many people know I don’t
look like what I have been through. My story is
"Pretty Girl Blues”.  It is my testimony of how God healed me from cancer.
It is a triumphant story of His healing powers. My story is encouraging to many, but before I discovered the plans God
had for my life I often questioned, "why did I have to go through this sickness". Because of the rare type of cancer I had
and the many surgeries to follow I was left with having permanent colostomy bags(located in area of my belly button).
These bags aided my bladder and bowel functions. Well, that was the ultimate reason that caused my low self-esteem,
depression, insecurities, sadness, and hopelessness.  It was not the disease itself or the treatments I went through, but
the aftermath of it all; the colostomy bags. If you only knew what difficulties these adversities brought to my life; a hidden
secret, wanting to be accepted, isolation, rejection, loneliness, learning what products works best for me, and having
incidents and accidents.

Why do I choose to go more in depth about the disease, my adversities, and Pretty Girl Blues?
BECAUSE
: I don’t look like what I have to go through everyday of my life for the rest of my life. I want readers to know
that looks can be deceiving; people do hide internal pain. I want readers not to judge a book by its cover; all that glitter
does unfold. I am not afraid anymore to tell of the goodness of the Lord. Let's witness how good He is !
My Circumstances & Situations                                   BUT                                          God
Crying
When did it stop, it has not. The difference is most of my
tears are tears of gratitude. Someone somewhere is in a
worst situation then me. I am learning to roll with the
punches even through some unforeseen situations that still
occur. God is my rock and in Him I will trust..
Cancer (2 years old)
(Rhabdomyosarcoma) A cancer that
grows in the soft tissues of the body,  is a
rare disease that most often occurs in
children and young adults, but can also
occur in adults. Rhabdomyosarcoma is
treated by a combination of surgery,
chemotherapy, and radiation.

Surgeries
Resection (removal) of the primary tumor. If
necessary after chemotherapy or radiation
has shrunk the tumor. I have been cancer
free for over 20 years, but there have been
other countless surgeries indirectly and
directly associated with the cancer.
Colostomy Bag: (bowels)
A colostomy is when the colon is cut in half and
the end leading to the stomach is brought
through the wall of the abdomen and attached to
the skin. It is normally located below belt line. I
use colostomy bag two piece product, which I
change at least 3-4 times a day.

Catheter: (bladder)  Is a hollow plastic tube. It is
inserted about 5 inches into small hole at
stomach area; and the contents of the reservoir
come out on their own. I empty about  3 or 4 times
a day.
Cholestryramine- I have to take EVERYDAY
(once a day). It helps digest my food properly

SUPER MODEL
I am not opening myself up to get the glory, yes I LOVE ME
and it took some time to get there, but I thank God for
allowing me to be open, honest, and comfortable with sharing
my story. I am thankful to the doctors, nurses, and my family
that took care of me. If it had not been for the Lord on my
side, where would I be? I now know He has always had a
hinge of protection around me. God knew the outcome
before it began.

Next time you say, “I want to be or look like him or her”, ask
their story, perhaps it is a journey you can not imagine it
being you. God knows what we can handle. God knew my
journey was something I could handle even at times I thought
I could not. One day, just one day I longed for my story to
bless someone and it has; thousands. I am going global with
my testimony. How about you? What’s your story?

It is no secret to what God can do..
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you
hope and a future.
